Moonman’s Mistress has one mission in mind – to provide healthy, tasty edibles made with quality ingredients that nourishes the body and spirit. And the Moonman Mistress team practice what they preach. Jamel Ramiro (The “Moonman”) and Liz Rudner (The “Mistress”) both live a lifestyle centered on a paleo-centric diet and clean living. Jamiro and Liz were both involved in the health and nutrition industry before starting Moonman’s Mistress. They then decided to further their mission by developing products that promote the medicinal benefits of cannabis.
So, what is the story behind the intriguing name? An astronaut or “MoonMan” must be in peak physical and mental condition to perform a mission successfully. He is a leader who leads from the front – disciplined, poised, battle-tested and always ready. These characteristic traits are in line with Co-Founder Jamel Ramiro, veteran of the US Army, NASM certified personal trainer, Muay Thai/Boxing coach and devoted surfer. He lives a healthy lifestyle passionate to educate, empower and harness the potential of those he crosses paths with.
The “Mistress” represents a woman free from the rules and confines of society, one who goes against the grain and dances to the beat of her own drum. Though considered taboo, she is a free-flowing caretaker. Strong and powerful in the shadows, she is a nurturer providing hidden pleasures just like that of cannabis and nutrient dense food.
This is a play on Co-Founder Liz Rudner’s personality and her quest to heal people through the medicinal benefits of food while making healthy taste delicious. Here we learn more about Liz, the Mistress behind the brand:
What is your inspiration behind Moonman’s Mistress?
A low dose product that was healthy but delicious and catered to people with dietary sensitives as well as lived an active lifestyle. Most edibles on the market are extremely high dosage and filled with sugar, flour, vegetable oils.
Everyone has a school brownie story, but what really sparked my desire to get into the cannabis space was the fact that I was able to heal my body with food and cannabis. There were very few brands/products that really provided the same values I was looking for.
What sparked your interest in baking?
I learned how to bake from my parents. I discovered paleo after years of struggling with my autoimmune diseases and from that journey, it sparked my interest in going back to school to study fitness nutrition and a holistic nutrition coach.
