A chef, a commercial food photographer, and now a cannabis author, Keena Moffett is a woman of many talents. Her latest work is Cannabis Creations: Beyond the Brownie, earning coveted 5-star reviews on Amazon.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Keena and learning more about her entrepreneurial journey.
How did you get into cooking?
I taught myself how to cook when I went to college because I had a child and I wanted “real food.”
What prompted you to transition to becoming a cannabis chef?
I owned my own bakery from 2010-2016, and after learning about all of the benefits of cannabis, I decided to research and learn how to modify those recipes for cannabis patients and users.
What sets you apart from other cannabis chefs?
My true love for food which comes first! I am also a commercial food photographer, and I love all aspects of the industry…except doing dishes!
Do what you love because people can feel the love you put into the work and appreciate it more.
What is something you wished you known before becoming an entrepreneur in the cannabis industry?
Wow, so many things…. but probably how no one will believe in your vision as much as you do, and that you have to stand by what you believe in your business and goals.
What advice can you give to budding chefs who want to get into and succeed in this industry?
It all starts with experimenting. Play with recipes you already know and love, then figure out how to infuse them!
Where do you see your business 5 years from now?
I see myself as the Rachel Ray of cannabis edibles! I am fun and approachable, and try to remove any anxiety associated with cooking with cannabis. My 5 year goal is to have a full line of gourmet edibles and do fun cannabis food events.
